DROP spent close to a year in development. Over twenty prototypes were built, tested, torn apart, and rebuilt before anything felt right. The idea was simple: a place to put down everything you carry, the moment you walk through the door. No arranging. No overthinking. No worrying about scratching the gear you actually care about. Just drop it in.
Six precision-fitted components, bonded together into what feels like a single object. Three plates form the tray body. Three additional elements lock everything from underneath, including the Jelly Smith logo disc on the base. Every part is produced in glass-fiber-reinforced PETG, chosen for its rigidity, surface texture, and durability.
Each tray is printed on an industrial-grade machine, one run at a time. Print settings have been dialed in over months: layer adhesion, infill density, wall thickness, cooling profiles. Parts that don’t meet the standard get pulled. What ships is assembled by hand, aligned, bonded, and finished so the seams between components practically disappear. Pick one up and it doesn’t feel printed. It feels built.
Two rubber rings sit in recessed cutouts on the base to prevent sliding, designed to be swapped out when they wear down.
The layout borrows from stadium architecture. Concentric zones, each with a purpose. The innermost ring uses rounded pillars that guide flashlights, knives, and pens into grooves where they naturally settle. Nothing rolls. Nothing tips. The middle zone opens up for a phone, car keys, or larger flashlights. The outer ring acts as a protective frame, reinforcing the structure and adding rigidity.
Three plates nest into one another to form the tray. On the underside, a single brown disc pins the outer and middle plates together. The logo piece and the droplet emblem secure the remaining edges. Everything is permanently bonded into one solid, seamless body.
The center plate comes in different colorways. Three sizes. Same construction.
